Peter refers to God the Father’s mercy as “great mercy” in 1 Peter 1:3 and encourages believers that they have a living hope that they should be looking forward to. Listen as we discuss the difference between justice and mercy and draw out what is the living hope that God through Peter has provided to redeemed sinners in their affliction.
Mercy is that tender love of God that pities the sinner, forebears to execute justice, provides a substitute, sends the Spirit to quicken the dead, and grants faith unto salvation.
Preached August 23 @ Covenant Bible Church of Ohio by Michael Coughlin.
